“Share our Road" Campaign 2 - RIDE of Silence – Klang Valley, Malaysia (Global Event)

Public event organised by “Share Our Road” Group

On May 16, 2012 at 7:00 PM, the Ride of Silence will begin in North America and roll across the globe. Cyclists will take to the roads in a silence procession to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways.

In conjunction with this global event, we are planning to create our second “Share Our Road” Campaign to continue to increase public awareness that Cyclists also have the rights to share the Road with other road users.

• All Cyclists are invited to join with a bicycle; we welcome all types of bicycles.
• Theme is to wear ALL WHITE.
• We plan to cycle from Time Square and start to distribute the second batch of Car Stickers to create the awareness.
• While assemble at Time Square area, we shall Carry on with Picture Petition and Signature Petition with messages written on 3ft x 10ft Event Banner to be later hand in to PM's office - A PICTURE SPEAKS A THOUSAND WORDS, LET OUR VOICES ALL BE HEARD !!!

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A LIGHT, "BLINKER", NO HELMET NO RIDE!!! 

Everyone MUST comply with Road Rules.

No Run over Red Lights at ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!!

MUST take as many pictures and video as possible for this event!!!

Sideline Events:

1) Picture Support & Snap Petition & Share Our Roads Event Banner Signature Petition of all cyclists + other road users who support the campaign to be collected & sent to MOT. Plan to collect and compile all the pictures starting from this event.

2) Distribute “Share Our Road” Car Stickers while collect Support & Snap Petition pictures in support for this campaign.

3) Volunteer photographers to be stationed at Times Square Area, equipped with “Share Our Road” Car stickers to give out to passersby, create the awareness for their support of our campaign. U can snap ur own picture to upload as well.

4) While assemble at Time Square area, we shall Carry on with Picture Petition and Signature Petition with messages written on 3ft x 10ft Event Banner to be later hand in to PM's office - A PICTURE SPEAKS A THOUSAND WORDS, LET OUR VOICES ALL BE HEARD !!!

** From now on, we shall bring out "Share Our Roads" Message as much as we could to all Road / MTB / Foldie / Fixie etc. Cycling Events / Rides / Jamborees etc. 

** You can do your part in different states, print similar design car stickers and banners, take pictures with it, carry on continue with Support & Snap campaign. Pls courteously inform us in advance.

- With all the understanding, We are VERY SURE we are going to Out-Do and Out-Sold our event & jerseys & memorabilias next time round as there will be more willing sponsors and supporters & helpers for us. ** A great turn out of more than 800 cyclists to participate our Share Our Roads - Ride of Silence, KL event last night. We have out-do ourselves and have sold out all the on hand jerseys. Thank you for everyone, every sponsors, supporters, volunteers, DBKL, PDRM, KL Cycling Association, Ambulance Service and Media Partners Tremendous Effort plus Thunderous Support for making this event a success and we thank you for giving us tonnes of room for our improvements.

** With the help of DBKL & PDRM & KL Cycling Association, we are able to open up major central KL roads for all cyclists to enjoy a night of safe pedaling among KL's busiest streets. Thank you authorities for your effort into making this happen to all cyclists even on a weekday evening.

** We have done a great job for Ride of Silence, KL Malaysia to - Let our Silence ROAR to everyone to keep spreading the message of Share Our Roads. 

This is a Long Term Commitment, a Unity Project to UNITE every cyclists, every family of every cyclists, every shop owners, every cycling brand owners, every bicycle brand dealers / distributors / Tourism Malaysia / JPJ, JKJR, MOT to support as looking at a campaign project of this scale, it's a continuous cycle which everyone in the loop will benefit as follows -

a) Safer Cycling Environment -

b) Increasing number of people willing to engage into the sport of cycling -

c) Increase in number of sales of bicycles, bicycles parts etc. -

d) Increase in long term profits for Bicycle Industry -

e) Benefit to all shops, dealers, distributors, event organizers -
f) More healthier, happy people in the world with lesser health problems and increase more human interaction as cycling is a human relationship engaging sport

** Up-coming Long Term plans for Share Our Roads are as follows:

a) Working closely with a Production house to come up with different story lines for a "Commuity Messages Short Video Clips" to be aired on TV Channels.

b) Coming up with a proposal for JPJ / JKJR / MOT to consider adding new module for implementing into future driving tests, exams to include guildances when encountering cyclists on the road when driving, this move is to get drivers more prepared to encounter cyclists on the road.

c) Proposal for DBKL / PDRM / KL Cycling Association for monthly night ride with proposed registration plus propose to Times Square to offer tenants vouchers for participants to spend at times Square, able to promote Times Square to be the 1st cyclists friendly mall in Malaysia.
